Obituary of Reg Romanuik
ROMANUIK - Reg Romanuik, age 56 years of Regina, formerly of Yorkton, beloved son of Metro and Adeline Romanuik passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre with his family by his side. Reg Allen Romanuik was born on March 25, 1955 at Yorkton, Saskatchewan, son of Metro and Adeline (nee Kshanowski). He attended Burke School, Dr. Brass and the Yorkton Regional High School in Yorkton. Reg held various jobs throughout his working career including Morris Rod Weeder, Allied Van Lines and Macdonalds Consolidated in Yorkton and later transferred to Regina with Macdonalds. Soon after moving to Regina, he realized his love for trucking and purchased his own Freightliner and was employed with Kindersley Transport. After many, many miles and wanting to be closer to his family and friends, Reg decided to work in the Regina area where he contracted for various gravel hauling companies. In his spare time, Reg devoted many hours to his Vette, Harley and 454 SS truck. Reg was a NASCAR fan and followed his favorite drivers. He was also an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. His family was an important and cherished part of his life and he enjoyed spending time with his parents, brother and sister and their families. He is survived by his parents Metro and Adeline, his brother Ken (Iris) and their children Michelle (Kevin) Youmans of Yellowknife, NT and their children Emily and Lucas, Carie (Lane) Stockbrugger of Regina, SK. and their children Gabby and Liam, Mike Romanuik of Regina, his sister Lori (Brian) Shumay of Yorkton and their family, Kristen Shumay of Regina, Lindsay Shumay, as well as numerous cousins, Aunts and Uncles and a huge circle of friends. Funeral Service was Friday, April 1st at St. Andrew's United Church in Yorkton with Rev. Milo Spooner Craig officiating. The organist, Shani Apland led members of St. Andrew's Choir and congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Here I Am" , "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagles Wings". Serving as honourary pallbearers were (nieces & nephew), Michelle Youmans, Carie Stockbrugger, Mike Romanuik, Kristen Shumay and Lindsay Shumay. The interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Ken Romanuik and Lori Shumay serving as the urn bearers. Memorials in memory of Reg may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
