McLASHEN - Corey McLashen age twenty five of Yorkton, beloved son of Carol McLashen, grandson of Helen & Ed McLashen of Yorkton. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Corey McLashen on March 26th, 2011 Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Corey was born in Saskatoon and lived almost his entire life in Yorkton. He brought great joy to the lives of his Baba and Gido. They shared their home with Corey and his mom Carol from his infancy to pre-school years. Corey attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from Yorkton Regional High School. Upon graduation he worked at various jobs and most recently was employed by Potzus Construction. He loved operating the heavy equipment at work. His passions included snowmobiling, fishing, his motorbike, cheering for the Calgary Flames, and spending fun times with friends. Corey is survived and will be greatly missed by his beloved mother Carol McLashen, and his loving grandparents Ed and Helen McLashen. Also left to grieve are his aunts Cathy (Brad) Styan, Patty (Murray) Stevens, Darci McLashen, and his cousins, Michael and Trevor Styan, and Hunter and Cameron Stevens. He will be fondly remembered by his father, James Taylor, grandparents Gordon and Florence Taylor, and a host of extended family...great aunts and uncles, cousins, dear and loyal friends. Corey was pre-deceased by his great grandmother Katie Karpyk, in May of 2010. An Evening Celebration of Life Service was held on Thursday, March 31st, 2011 at 7:00 pm from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre led by Certified Celebrant, Crystal Bailey. Tributes and words of remembrance were given by Corey's aunt, Patti Stevens, friends Kristen Sereda and Monique Nolan. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Friday, April 1st, 2011 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Ray Lukie, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The Responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita and Parish Choir members. The Cross Bearers were Hunter & Cameron Stevens. Cathy Styan gave the Epistle Reading. Interment followed in the garden of St. Mark in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Travis Petryshen, Mike Wozniak, Larry Musey, Craig Bailey, Andrew Weber and Derek Turcotte serving as Casket Bearers. A memorial luncheon followed at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Corey's aunt, Patti Stevens shared words of appreciation on behalf of the family. Memorial donations in Corey's name may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund, the SPCA, or a charity of donor's choice as gifts of remembrance.
