Obituary of Bertha Haberman
HABERMAN - Mrs. Bertha Haberman passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg. She was 84 years of age. Bertha Katherine Haberman was born on August 6, 1926 on the family farm in the Zorra district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of Adam and Elizabeth Kitsch. In November of 1948 she was united in marriage to William Haberman at Zorra Church. The couple resided on a farm near Togo and later moved to Winnipeg, where they raised their three sons, Vern, Jerry and Bruce. They lived in Winnipeg until William's passing in December of 1964. Bertha moved to Yorkton in 1969, where she worked at the Corona Motor Inn until her retirement from the housekeeping department in 1983. After her retirement, Bertha enjoyed looking after her grandchildren. In 1995 she moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to her siblings and resided there until her passing. Bertha had a great joy for crocheting and reading, but her greatest love was for her three children, her six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William; parents, Adam & Elizabeth Kitsch; a brother Mervin Kitsch; sister-in-law May; brothers-in-law Fred, Roy and Dan and many in-laws on the Haberman side. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Vern (Joan) of Yorkton; Bruce (Diane) of Winnipeg; and Jerry of Winnipeg; grandchildren: Brian, Brad (Wendy), Jenelle (Chad), Crystal (Jason), Shawn, & Kerry; great grandchildren: Kjorvan, Sarika, Dreyden, Carson, Olivia, Harper, Akeelie, Jesse, Jayla, & Dakota. Also three sisters: Erna Geist, Norma Dunkley, Alice Cheetham; two brothers: Earl (Alice) Kitsch, & Calvin Kitsch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. An evening prayer service was held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Daniel Moeller of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. The organist, Verna Liebrecht, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Amazing Grace', 'How Great Thou Art', and 'Lord, Take My Hand and Lead Me'. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Mark with Keith and Barry Cheetham, Brian and Brad Haberman, Chad Davison and Jason Peters serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home. Service Information
