Obituary of Kenneth Eremko

Eremko - Kenneth Lawrence Eremko beloved husband of June Eremko (nee Harper) of the RM of Wallace (Rokeby) passed away Monday January 24, 2011 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre after a short but very brave battle with cancer. Ken was born on December 19, l937 the youngest son of six to William and Lillian Eremko (nee Kramer). Ken was a very hard working and honest family man. He had various jobs during his life including trying his hand at farming. However he was best known for his career in the trucking industry (47 yrs). He was always very proud of his driving record, amassing millions of accident free kilometres. During his years he drove for such companies as CP Transport, Yorkton Concrete, Sears Line Haul and finally retiring at the age of 64 from Crush Rite Concrete. Ken had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed welding, carpentry and had a zest for do it yourself projects. It brought him joy spending time with his boys doing home and yard projects, passing on the wealth of information, knowhow and wisdom he had gained through his experiences in life. His efforts provided a well built home and acreage for his family to mature at. His favourite way to pass his time started in his later years when he took to remote control helicopters and then moving to remote control airplanes of which he had many. He was an avid and active member of the Yorkton Remote Control Flying Club. Some would say he enjoyed tinkering with the mechanics of it all the most. His response would be "it takes weeks to learn how to fly but a lifetime to learn when to fly". Ken was known for being a fair weather pilot. Ken leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife June; three sons: Darren (Saskatoon, SK), Dennis (Susan) (Qualicum Beach, BC), Keith (Camrose, AB), four grandchildren Breana and Connor, Quinn and Mark. He was also survived by three of his five brothers, Ralph (Martha) of Calgary, AB, Elliot of Winnipeg, MB, and Eddie (Norma) of San Francisco, CA. Ken also leaves his good friend and flying buddy, Cory Deslaurier of Yorkton as well many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by both his parents and two of his brothers, Jimmy (Vancouver, BC) and Jonny (Wilkie, SK). Ken truly was a great man with a wealth of wisdom to pass on and more than enough of his own brand of love to share from his heart. Ken will be deeply missed by every person he knew...always. In accordance with Ken's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service at this time, a family committal of Ken's ashes will take place in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home. Interment Details Yorkton City Cemetery
