Obituary of John Yuzik

YUZIK - John was born on November 28, 1922, the middle child of five children, to John and Mary (nee Zederayko). Raised on the farm near Ebenezer, he later bought land and moved to the Orcadia District. He met and married Anne Heshka in 1954 and they raised two children, Rodney and Karen. In 2010, the farm was sold and John and Anne moved to Yorkton. John was a strong supporter of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, the Yorkton C0-Op and served as a director of the Credit Union for many years. He was happiest when he was in his shop building, fixing and inventing things. John enjoyed fishing in his younger years. He took up golfing in his late sixties and enjoyed countless hours golfing with his family and friends. Last year John was the oldest member at Cherrydale Golf Course where he enjoyed golfing with his friend Steve. He was an avid bowler, a Yorkton Terriers supporter, a Blue Jays fan and, of course, he loved his Riders. John passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the age of 88. John will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Anne; son, Rodney (Karen) of Burlington, ON; daughter, Karen (Rick Stettner) of Regina; grandchildren, Travis & Brayden Reeve; Zachary, Vanessa and Aaron Yuzik. He also leaves to mourn his sisters, Lena (Peter) Holowaty of Foam Lake, Adeline (Harold) Mohninger of High River, AB; brother, Danny (Marie) Yuzik of Ebenezer and sister-in-law, Theresa Yuzik of Regina; numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary, and his oldest brother Bill. John was soft spoken, considerate, helpful and generous and will be missed by everyone that met him.
