Obituary of Alexander Mandzuk
MANDZUK -Alexander Mandzuk was born on February 27, 1931 in the Veregin district of Saskatchewan, a son of John and Lena (nee Wowk) Mandzuk. Al as he was known to everyone grew up in the Hamton district and attended Weesna and Manifelt schools. He later worked in a dairy in Ontario before moving to British Columbia where he worked for over thirty years in the mattress manufacturing business. Al was united in marriage to Bernice Rohatynsky on March 9, 1957 in Vancouver. Together they raised their five children. The family lived in various places in British Columbia and eventually in their retirement returned to the prairies, first living on a farm near Pelly before moving to Theodore. Al served as a Frontiersman in Vancouver, coached and umpired little league baseball and volunteered with meals on wheels. Al loved gardening and yard work around the house. He also loved bird watching, nature and the outdoors; camping, boating, fishing and hunting. When inside he loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs, doing puzzles and playing cards or visiting. Al also enjoyed visiting casinos to play blackjack and slots. Al could be stern but he was always fair. Al was a very loving dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Al passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was seventy-nine years of age. Predeceased by his father, John in 1987 and his son, Wade in 1995. Al leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Beatrice 'Bernice' Mandzuk; three sons, Kirk, Perry (Geri) and Clark; one daughter, Kimberly (Tomo); grandchildren, Molly, Trista, Tonya, Jerami, Sunsherra and Saffron; great grandchildren, Vanessa, Hanna and Jordan; his mother, Lena Mandzuk; three brothers, Peter, Dave and Tony Mandzuk; two sisters, Phylis Heshka and Sally Shankowsky as well as numerous nieces, nephews relatives and friends. He will forever be in our hearts. Celebration of Life Service was held Monday, January 17, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Theodore United Church. Officiated by Ms. Rolanda Taylor Intern Minister Theodore - Springside Pastoral Charge. Organist was Carla Madsen, the Choir Anthem was "Church In the Wildwood ", Hymns sung were 'Amazing Grace' and 'How Great Thou Art'. Tribute & Words of Remembrance were given by Perry Mandzuk and the Urn bearers were Al's children.
