Obituary of Donna Hyshka
HYSHKA - Donna Margareth Hyshka (nee Weber) of Wroxton and formerly of the Dunleath area passed away Jan.2, 2011 in Yorkton at the hospital with her husband and two children by her side. Donna fought her battle with cancer since June of 2010. Donna was born in Yorkton, SK on December 22, 1952 to Mary (nee Stumph) and Henry Weber. Donna attended Glasgows, Stornaway, Dunleath and Yorkton Regional schools. Donna was set up on a blind date with her future husband Boris Hyshka on June 14, 1969. They officially tied the knot on June 14, 1971 and soon after started their family on the family farm in the Wroxton area. Donna stayed home to raise her children and was a true farmer 's wife. She raised chickens, ducks, geese, milked cows and pitched bales. It didn't stop there, she could produce a great round bale and for many years was the chief grain hauler. When the kids were in school full time, she decided to join the work force. She worked a few places throughout her life including Zellers Skillet, Wroxton Sausage Plant, Fredricks Meats in Kamsack. On November 10, 1987 she started what was to be her final career choice at Harvest Meats working her way up to supervisor. In her 23+ years there, Donna met a lot of friends and touched a lot of hearts. She enjoyed her job and enjoyed her coworkers who sometimes referred to her as "TW" (toothless wonder) or "Baba Bling Bling" who attended the U of W (University of Wroxton). Be assured Donna could give it as well as take it, communicating without saying a word. One knew without a doubt where they stood good or bad, through her eyes and smile. Throughout life Donna enjoyed playing ball, golfing, curling and the friendships and rivalries they brought. Rivalries especially when playing Right Field, number 30 for the Brandon Blue Jays. Also amongst her favourite things to do were being at the lake, boating, fishing, camping and the socializing that came with it. Summer holidays were always at the lake for two weeks every year. Summer would not be summer without spending as many weekends as possible at the lake. In 04 camping got a whole lot sweeter with the purchase of her pride and joy, a state of the art 5th wheel and soon after a seasonal site at the Lake of the Prairies. The camping was great, the spot was great, the company was even better, however nothing could make her happier than a simple camp fire and a lawn chair. Donna enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, taking great pride in a tidy house and a neat yard. Cribbage and Three Spot were often played at Donnas' kitchen table with Donna not often on the losing end (she liked to hand out a little butt kicking). In her spare time (not sure when), she knitted and managed to get 13 pairs of slippers done this Christmas for her family which will be cherished deeply. Those who shared in any of these activities, will agree it will no longer be the same. Donna is survived by her loving husband, Boris, children Kimberly Hyshka (Craig Dubiel) and Scott (Trish) Hyshka. She will be missed most of all by her grandchildren, Jorden, Dylan and Kayden Hyshka, Stephanie and Bryden Dubiel. Also to mourn her are siblings, Dorothy (Gus) Steberl of Regina, June Dickie of Strasbourg, Linda (Russell) Matycio of Yorkton, Gloria (Cliff) Maximiuk of Yorkton, Don (Barb) Weber of Roblin, Warren (Linda) Weber of Yorkton, Brother-in-law George Lutz of Yorkton and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her Mom and Dad, her sister Shirley Lutz, Brothers-in-law Norm Dickie and Henry Holzman and Joe Simon. Prayers were held on Wednesday, January 5th at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre, led by Crystal Bailey, Funeral Celebrant. The funeral service was held on Thursday, January 6th at St. Andrew's United Church, Yorkton with Rev. Milo Spooner Craig officiating. The organist, Shani Apland led St. Andrew's Choir and congregation in the singing of the hymn, "All Things Bright and Beautiful". The soloist, Cheryl Zorn (niece) sang "Amazing Grace" and "Waters of Rest". Scott Hyshka (son) shared reflections of his mother's life. Tributes were conveyed by siblings, Don & Warren Weber and Gloria Maximiuk. Donna's obituary was read by Dorothy Steberl (sister). All who cherished and shared her life with her were considered honourary pallbearers. The interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Darlene Kindiak, Barb Diduck, Pat Galye, Nora Lutz, Shelley Westberg, Betty Lutz, Candace Heywood and Brenda Lutz serving as the casket bearers.
