Obituary of Bill Matichuk

Matichuk - Bill was born in Melville, Saskatchewan on January 29, 1947 a son of Alfred and Margaret (nee Miscavish) Matichuk. Bill grew up and attended school in Fenwood. After school he moved to Winnipeg, MB. where he was employed at Flyers Bus Manufacturing, later he moved to Regina and worked at various jobs. He was employed at the Empire Hotel until his passing. Bill loved listening to music, picnics in the park and especially loved his children and family. Bill had a sense of humour, even throughout his battle with cancer. Bill was a very caring person, he helped several friends while they were sick. He looked after them until their passing. Bill was small in stature but had a great big heart. He will be greatly missed and loved by all. Bill passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. Predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Margaret Matichuk and his daughter Bobbi Lee. Bill is survived by his wife Cindy Neal, daughter Jennifer Derksen, son Billy Joe, brother-in-law Russ (Sandy), sisters Marianne (Irvin), Carol (Daniel), brothers Dave (Julie), Dale (June), Joe (Glenda) and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life was held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Chapel of Bailey 's Funeral Home, Melville, with Crystal Bailey, Funeral Celebrant, officiating. Marianne Stefanowski and Carol Dumalski read poems, "Letter from Heaven " and "First Christmas in Heaven ". Words of remembrance was given by Dave Matichuk, scripture reading by Barb Shields. Hymns were "On Eagles Wings ", "Be Not Afraid ", and "Joy to the World ", accompanied by Len Varga on guitar. Candle lighting was done by Troy Shields and Urnbearer was Dave Matichuk.
