Obituary of Frank Vidomsky

VIDOMSKY - Mr. Frank Vidomsky, formerly of Yorkton, beloved husband of the late Elsie Vidomsky passed away after a short illness on December 16th 2010 while living in the Theodore Nursing home. He was in his ninetieth year. Frank was born in the Otthon district of Saskatchewan on September 1st 1920 and baptized six days later. Frank was the son of Martin and Rosalia (nee Bajda) Widomski. Frank was the fourth child of five children born in the family. He had two brothers Walter and Thomas as well as two sisters Angeline Bennish and Katie Wazniuk. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. Frank's father died when he was twelve years old and he and his mother had to leave the family farm. He began working on threshing crews to support himself and his mother when he was fifteen. Like so many people of his generation Frank made a living with his hands and became a skilled cream tester and taster and award winning butter maker at the Co-op Creamery, a company he worked for with loyally for forty two uninterrupted years. Even though he took great pride in his butter making he said for many years into his retirement that he never wanted to taste another drop of butter. Frank married Elsie Wereschuk July 1st 1944. At a recent family dinner Frank was asked what were the important moments of his life; to which he responded "the happiest day of my life was my wedding day and the saddest day of my life was when my wife passed away." Frank and Elsie had two daughters, Linda and Arlene who spent there adult lives in the Yorkton area. His daughters, their husbands and their five children were the center of Frank's social life. The family kept each other's company precious on all holidays and Frank was usually the center of the family activities. Known as a "big talker" he was a man who loved dancing, golfing, fishing, a few drinks and occasionally he was a hunter. He even shot a hole in his own car door one time by accident as he was prone to get over excited, to say the least. Frank was faithful to his beliefs, his church and anything related to his church like the Knights Of Columbus. He held Sundays as a day of worship and it could be said he held Christmas in high regard as the celebration of the birth of Christ. Frank didn't believe in gossiping or unkind talk about others. He was the first to find the best in other people, the first to cheer the successes of his family and He was true to his friends without judgement. Frank was predeceased by his parents, his brothers and sisters, his great granddaughter Lindsay his wife Elsie. Frank is survived by his daughter Linda (Dennis) Benko, daughter Arlene (Jack) Wruth, grandchildren Tim (Marcia) Benko, Trent (Rebecca) Benko, Karyn (John) Sereda, Andrea (Toni) Ivan, James (Colleen) Wruth, great grandchildren Cale and Ashlyn, Emily, Luke, Gabrielle, Charlotte, Samantha.
