Obituary of Elsie Purich
PURICH - Elsie died peacefully on December 14th at Sherbrooke Community Centre, Saskatoon with family at her side at the age of 92. Elsie (nee Tkatchuk) and her late husband, John, were married November 20, 1943, farmed for many decades near Wroxton, Saskatchewan before moving to Yorkton. After John's death in May of 2004 Elsie came to Saskatoon. Elsie's passions were her family, her farm, baking, knitting, and her extraordinary gardens. Mom had amazing gardens - even spectacular radishes on the harshest soil. She was a very giving person and every visitor whether family or friend always left with a big care package. While she did not have the opportunity for higher education, she insisted her sons get a university education. Surviving Elsie are her son Don and his wife Karen Bolstad, grandson Nick; son Rod and his wife Carol; sisters Helen Erickson of Toronto and Anne McDonald of Vancouver, and a great many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by eight siblings. The funeral service was held on Monday, December 20, 2010 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Rev, Milo Spooner Craig of St. Andrew's United Church officiated. Organist, Amanda Buhler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Amazing Grace' and 'In the Garden'. Amanda also sang 'On Eagles Wings '. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Luke with grandson Nicholas Purich as the urnbearer. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
