Obituary of Rose Poloyko

POLOYKO - Mrs. Rose (nee Manovich) Poloyko, formerly of Yorkton and recently of Medicine Hat, AB passed away peacefully on November 20th, 2010. Her final day was spent surrounded by family. Rose was born October 9th, 1928 in Goodeve, Saskatchewan. She was 82 years of age. After completing her education in Hard Rock school she remained on the farm. On May 14, 1950 she was united in marriage to Steve Poloyko at the Sacred Heart Church in Ituna and continued to operate the family farm. In 1973 they moved to Yorkton but continued to farm. In 1988 they sold the land and retired. Rose moved to Regina in 1997 and then to Medicine Hat in 2004. Rose took great pleasure in being with her family especially on special occasions. Rose enjoyed visiting with relatives and friends, gardening, crocheting, sewing and reading. Rose was a faithful parishioner of her church. Rose was predeceased by her sister Mary in infancy, her mother Stella (nee Bobowski) in 1949, her father Fred Manovich in 1993, her sister Ann in 1994 and husband Steve in 1997. To celebrate her life she leaves her daughter Linda and husband John Kozakewich of Medicine Hat, Alberta, and son Harvey and wife Theresa Poloyko of Regina, Saskatchewan, seven grandchildren, Jennifer Kozakewich (Mike Nielsen) and son Eric, Jeff Kozakewich (Trisha) and daughter Hannah and son William, Jocelyn Kozakewich (Jason Volden), Christopher Poloyko (Michelle Sheen) step sons Colton and Jessie, Amy Poloyko, Jessica McCarthy (Jeff) and son Ashton, daughter Mackenzie and son Kaden, Matthew Poloyko (Andrea) and daughter Isobel. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Saturday, November 27th at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Thaddeus Krawchuk, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita & Parish Choir Members. The epistle reader was Jeff Kozakewich (grandson) and serving as crossbearers were Jessica McCarthy (granddaughter), Ashton, Mackenzie & Kaden McCarthy (great grandchildren). The interment took place at Yorkton City Cemetery with grandchildren, Jennifer Kozakewich, Christopher Poloyko, Jeff Kozakewich, Amy Poloyko, Matthew Poloyko and Jocelyn Kozakewich serving as the casket bearers.
