Obituary of Edward Grzebinski

GRZEBINSKI - Edward passed away from heart failure at the Regina General Hospital on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Ed enjoyed life into his 91st year despite several cancers and many years of heart disease. Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife Leona (Doshen); children Karen (Archie) Lang, Rob, Bruce (Gail Kajiura), Tim (Monique Wilson) and Sandy; grandchildren and step-grandchildren Graham Lang, Meagan Lang, Fraser Lang, Nathan (Karlee) Grzebinski-Fry, Kenji (Michelle) Kajiura, Kimio (Pamela) Kajiura, Daniele (Stan) Hurley, Jesse (Andriana) Wilson, Justine (Greg) Wilson and Jaelyn Wilson; great grandchildren LaQuesta Hurley and Theodore Tollifson-Fry; sister Julia Robinson; and numerous nephews and nieces across Canada and USA. Ed was predeceased by his parents Piotr and Ksenia (Klimczak); six brothers Joseph, Stanley, Walter, Bernie, Peter and John; five sisters Lucy Szarkowicz, Mary Klimczak, Anna, Frances Batycki, and Jean. Ed was born and grew up on the family farm five miles SW of Ituna, SK. He attended St. Joseph School one mile west of the farm. In 1941 he left the farm and moved to Toronto to work. From the age of 21 to 25 he served with the RCAF as a RADAR technician during WWII. He returned to Ituna where he was the Postmaster for 35 years. Ed was active in organizations such as The Knights of Columbus, Lions, St. Stanislaus Church Council and Credit Union Board. His hobbies over the years included woodworking, golf, needlepoint and cheering for the Roughriders. Ed loved to sing in his beautiful baritone voice and enjoyed Scrabble, at which he was an ace, right up to the end. As per Ed's wishes, he will be cremated. Prayers were held at Regina Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 24, 2010. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Regina on Thursday, November 25th. A Memorial Service was held at St. Stanislaus Church in Ituna on Friday, November 26th followed by an interment in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery and reception in the St. Stanislaus Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ed may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P2R3 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 279 3 Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8 or a charity of your choice.
