Obituary of Jerry Kotylak

KOTYLAK - Jerry Kotylak was born March 4, 1935 on the family farm in the Kelliher district of Saskatchewan; a son of Anton and Katherine (nee Wingerak) Kotylak. Jerry was raised on the family farm and received his schooling at the Jasmin School. As a young man he worked away from home for a time before returning to the farm. On October 28, 1956 he was united in marriage to Lucy Chorney at Ituna. The couple settled in the Kelliher district where Jerry operated a mixed farm. Following the death of Lucy in May of 1984, Jerry continued farming until semi-retiring in 1997, when he moved into Kelliher. About eight years ago Jerry suffered a debilitating stroke. But through this hardship he persevered and beat the odds. With the help of family he was able to maintain his independence as best he could. Jerry passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Regina General Hospital following a time of failing health. He was 75 years of age. Besides his wife Lucy, he was predeceased by a grandson Devin in 1999; and by brothers Bill and Joe Kotylak. He leaves to mourn his passing two sons and one daughter: Gordon (Marlis) of Kelliher; Brenda (John) Haggerty of Regina; and Ken of Kelliher; grandchildren: Jason, Kyla (Chad, Summer & Haiylee), Jeremy, Ryan (Daniella), Morgan, Kyle & Tyler. Also sisters Jean (Nestor) Lewko of Ituna and Mary King of Kelliher, numerous nieces, nephews, and his many other relatives and friends.
