Obituary of Ben Bugoy

BUGOY - Mr. Ben Bugoy, beloved husband of Helen passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the age of 86 years with his loving family by his side. It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a wonderful man, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered and loved by his wife Helen of 60 years, son Rick (Natalie), daughters; Shirley (Mario) Araneda, Linda (Hugh) Carss, Bonnie (Sylvester) Osicki, Jeanette (Gary) Baziuk, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Ben was born in Otthon on March 11, 1924 and married his sweetheart on November 1, 1950. Ben and Helen spent their years working together on the farm. As well, Ben was actively involved with the R.M. of Cana where he served as a Councillor for fourteen years, never losing an election. Over the years Ben and Helen enjoyed travelling to places such as Hawaii, Tennessee, California, Nevada, British Columbia, Ontario and extensively to Alberta to visit their daughters. Ben's greatest joy was his family, his farm life, love of the land and horses. He also enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards and socializing with family and friends. Ben had a deep faith which was a source of his strength and character. Ben was a kind and gentle soul who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a hard worker and had a strong work ethic. Ben always had a twinkle in his eye and a keen sense of humor. th Prayers were held on Sunday, November 14, 2010 and the Funeral Mass on Monday, November 15 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The music was offered by Katherine Flaman (Vigil) and Pam Yaremko (Mass). Members of St. Gerard's Choir led in the singing of the hymns, "How Great Thou Art", "Psalm 23", "Be Not Afraid", "Blest Are They", "Song of the Angels", and "Praise The Lord With Trumpet". The reading at the Vigil was given by Bonnie Osicki and Reflections of Ben's life were shared by Linda Carss. Readings at the mass were given by Janet Baziuk and Shirley Araneda. Serving as the gift bearers were Rick Bugoy, Christina Carss and Raegan Skauge. Serving as the crossbearer was Natasha Baziuk. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Walter Bugoy, Donald Bugoy, Garrett Baziuk, Nolan Bucsis, Michael Carss and Sylvester Osicki serving as the casket bearers. The family would like to recognize the kind deeds of Ben's daughter-in-law, Natalie who greatly assisted in his care and lifted his spirits. Natalie held a special place in Ben's heart. The family would also like to thank the very special people in the Skinner Unit for their dedication, compassion and care of Ben for the past three years.
