Obituary of Donald Whitehouse
WHITEHOUSE - Donald Victor Whitehouse was born on April 16, 1945 at Comox, BC; a son of Ted and Doris Whitehouse. As Donald's father was with the RCAF, following his discharge, the family returned to Saskatchewan, to the Jasmin district, where they farmed. Don graduated grade 12 in Kelliher, Sk. He then moved on to Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon. He worked for Ruso's Service Station; from there moved to the department of highways. He married Deborah Szekely in 1968. Don and his father Ted opened up Mainline Esso in Kelliher, Sk, When the garage burnt down Don moved his wife and family to Regina. He then went to work with Downtown Automatic. Don moved on to work with Case Power and Equipment in Regina, he was then transferred in 1985 to Case Power and Equipment in Victoria B.C. until Inland Parker Pacific took over Case Power and Equipment. In 1999 Don took on a position at Red Head Equipment where he continued working until the time of his passing. Don truly loved what he did and it showed. His work ethic was outstanding. Don was a kind and gentle soul. He was a friend to all; he had a great sense of humour and loved to tell jokes. Don was always quick to lend a helping hand to all who needed one. He loved the outdoors; tending to his garden or just sitting and taking nature in. Don loved to read and watch history television. Don gave head massages to anyone he would walk by...he was quite the character. Don loved his Durango, something we will always remember about Don and his truck is how he all of a sudden became time warped to driving in Nascar. Especially when he pulled up to a red light, he would check out who his "opponent" was next to him; once that light turned green well Don was off and leaving the young fellow next to him in his dust!! While visiting his daughter in Sooke, BC, Don passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 31, 2010. He was 65 years of age. Don was predeceased by his father Ted, mother Doris and an infant sister Marilyn. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Debbie of Kelliher.
