Obituary of Oscar Sandem

SANDEM - Oscar Sandem was born on June 7, 1923 on the family farm north- east of Kelliher; a daughter of Olaf and Martha (nee Johnson) Sandem. Oscar was raised on the farm and received his education at New Haven and Campbeltown Schools. As a young man he remained at home, helping in all aspects of the farm. Eventually Oscar 's, brother Charlie and sister Margaret took over the farm. In later years, Oscar and Margaret moved from the farm into Kelliher. As his health declined, Oscar became a resident of St. Joseph's Integrated Care Centre in Lestock, where he had resided until his passing. As those who knew him, Oscar was a man of very few words. He possessed a kind and gentle manner and was a friend to all. Oscar passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. He was 87 years of age. He was predeceased by a brother Oscar at three years; a brother Charlie in 1990, his sisters: Olivia Wallace in 1995 and Margaret Sandem in 2006; brother-in-law Sam Wallace in 1971, and nephew Billy Wallace in 2009. A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the graveside in the Swedeish Lutheran Cemetery, Kelliher district, officiated by Crystal Bailey. Cremation & interment arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home. Interment Details
