Obituary of Tony Renkas

The family of Tony Renkas of the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre and formerly of Ituna, SK., beloved husband of Helen Renkas sadly announce his passing on February 17, 2022. He was 85 years of age. A graveside service will be held in the Ituna R.C. Cemetery in the spring of 2022. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Ave., Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK. S7K 1V9 as gifts of remembrance. Tony (Joe) Renkas was born in February 28, 1936 on the farm in Tulleymet. He was the second oldest of 7 children born to Roy and Katie Renkas. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Drummage until grade 8. After helping on the family farm for a number of years, he went out to work road construction working all around the province. He worked with the companies Shymko’s, Mason Brothers and eventually Kreg Construction, which he was also a part owner of. He married Hellen Ozembloski on October 26, 1963. Together they had two children, Craig and the late Stacey Renkas. After a number of years working road construction, Tony returned to farm where he was truly meant to be. He was a grain and cattle farmer, and farmed until the age of 82. Some of Tony’s hobbies were fishing, gardening, playing three-spot and other card games, going on holidays, and pretty well anything to do with fixing or mechanics. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a kind, hardworking man, who didn’t like to quit until the job was done. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He passed away peacefully on February 17, 2022 at the age of 85 years old. He is predeceased by his mother Katie, father Roy, his son Stacey, and his brothers Mervin, Gordon, Russel, Allan and Patrick. He is survived by his loving wife Helen, his son Craig, his brother Ted, and grandchildren Dylan, Devan, Dustin, Tylan and Kayla.
