PARADIS - Olga Paradis formerly of Melville entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in Oakville, Ontario. She was 100 years of age. Olga was born on August 19, 1910 at Sheho, Saskatchewan, a daughter of Sam and Mary (nee Koucher) Ladyka. Olga received her education at Runymead School in the Sheho District. After completing her education, Olga worked for various families, keeping house and preparing meals. On October 23, 1934, Olga was united in marriage to Peter Paradis. Joe passed away on March 4, 2005. In 2006 Olga moved to Oakville, Ontario Olga was a very determined hard working person always willing to help others. She loved to meet people and made friends wherever she went. Olga liked to laugh and often could be heard telling a good joke. Her family was very important to her. Olga enjoyed her grandchildren and they in turn enjoyed her. Olga loved to travel and was ready to go in a minute if there was a ride to be had. Fall was her favorite time of the year with all the changing colors. Olga enjoyed dancing and listening to old time music. Olga always grew a big garden and took pride in the preservatives she had made. Everyone was always welcome in her home, no one ever left hungry or thirsty. Olga was a great cook and could make a delicious meal from the fewest and simplest of ingredients. Her baking was enjoyed by many and she was known to even make pies for weddings. Olga always had a kind word for others. She was a devout Catholic who believed deeply and attended church regularly. Olga enjoyed bowling up until her 90's, also loved to fish (she once caught a pike that was as long as she was tall and had her picture in the local paper). She enjoyed embroidering until her eyesight no longer allowed her to do this. Olga was a member of the Melville's Seniors group for several years, and also a member of Sir John Colborne Seniors Center in Oakville, Ontario and looked forward to weekly Wednesday Wheels to Meals lunch and playing cards with her friends at the center.
