Obituary of Claude Langan

LANGAN - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joseph Edward Claude Langan on Friday September 17, 2010 at Yorkton Union Hospital at the age of 72. Claude Langan was born on December 22, 1937 in Shell River (Boggy Creek) Manitoba, later to move to Crescent Lake, Saskatchewan, where he attended school. Claude was well known as a hard worker who worked until his last days. He started working for several farmers as a teenager then he became an iron worker for many years. Claude married his wife Connie in 1979 and settled in Yorkton where he started a very long career in construction. Over the years, Claude, Connie and his family moved to numerous places but Yorkton area was always considered home. Claude had lots of hobbies that he enjoyed. For many years, camping at Batoche was an event that he looked forward to with all his family and friends. He loved playing horse shoes, cards, bingo and casino, fishing, wood working, socializing and listening to his wife sing karaoke. Claude was a very loving, caring, generous person who was more than willing to lend a helping hand. He was always worried about family and friends well being. He will always be loved and missed but never forgotten. Claude was predeceased by his Daughter Dorothy Langan-Jones; parents Pat and Cecile Langan; sister Annie Brazeau; brother Lawrence Langan; sister in law Evelyn Langan; brother in law Raymond Coates; nephews Earl Langan, Kelly Brazeau; niece Brenda Langan; and God child Robin Brazeau. He leaves to cherish many fond memories his children: Perry (Sandra) Halibiski and family, Clayton Langan of Yorkton, Jason (Christine) Langan of Saskatoon, Rachel (Steven) Fisher of Saskatoon; granchildren, Aaron (Rachel) Louison, Dustin St Denis, Joseph (Stephanie) Langan, Charles Langan, Amber Langan, Elena Kinequon, Emma Kinequon-Langan, Kelsey Fisher, Kyle Fisher; great- grandchildren Trenton, Tavon Louison, Malin Langan-Bear. Also surviving are his sister Laura Coates, and brother Phillip Langan. Prayer Vigil was held on Tuesday, September 21st at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church, Yorkton. A eulogy was presented by Kay Kuemper. Special Selections, "Amazing Grace" "Swing Low" were sung by Dorothy Walker and Donna Vanderploeg. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, September 22nd at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The cross bearer was Dallas Langan. The music was provided by Loreen Lysak (Prayers) and Pam Yaremko (Mass). St. Gerard's Choir led in the singing of the hymns, "Morning Is Broken", "Psalm 25", "Jesus, Remember Me" and "Peace Is Flowing Like A River". Serving as readers were Sharon Langan and Mary Ann Gust. The interment followed in Yorkton City Cemetery with Ronnie Langan, Stewart Brazeau, Cory Pelletier, Michael Flamont, Rod Lyle and Lorne Brazeau serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in Claude's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
