Obituary of Dorothy Young
YOUNG - Mrs. Dorothy Young of Regina, beloved wife of Ed Moldowan passed away on Friday, September 3, 2010 at the age of 61 years. Dorothy Alora May Young was born on November 10, 1948 at Yorkton Union Hospital. She was the seventh child of Vernon and Mathilda (Grobowsky) Young. In May of 2009 she had a kidney removed and developed other health problems. She passed away at the young age of 61 years on September 3, 2010 at the Regina General Hospital. Dorothy grew up on the family farm in the Parkerview district and later the family moved to Insinger. She attended Crewkerne and Insinger School. In 1963 she met Eddie Moldowan. They raised a family of five children, four boys and one girl. Dorothy worked at various jobs including waitressing, dry cleaning, running a restaurant in Saltcoats and Melville and working alongside her parents in a leather shop. She was also involved in fundraising. For a brief time Dorothy and Eddie lived in Saskatoon with their first born Bill. They decided to move back to Yorkton to be closer to their family, where they later had Ernie, Kevin, Bev and Sheldon. Once their kids were grown up and on their own Dorothy and Eddie moved to Regina and resided there until her passing. Dorothy's greatest joy was having her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around her. She loved to read, cross-stitch, plastic canvas, garden and cook. She took great pleasure in cooking for her family and friends. Dorothy leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 47 years Eddie of Regina. Sons Bill (Tina) of Regina, Ernie (Gina) of Regina, Kevin (Lori) of Edmonton, Daughter Bev (Ken) of Springside, and Son Sheldon (Jacky) of Yorkton. Grandchildren Jordan, Blake, Jonathan, Travis, James, Tylor, Krystal, Miranda, Joseph, Janella, Jasmin, CJ, and Brandon. Great Grandchildren Adrian, Kaylee and Tia. Her sisters Frances, Phyllis (Ed), Hazel (Brian), Rose (Bill), and Rita (Norlan), brothers Floyd (Lorraine), and Richard (Marilyn), and Eddie's brother Orest (Kathy); numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Vernon and Mathilda, sisters Mary and Pearl, brothers Gordon, Rodney and Ralph. Eddie's parents Nick and Dora and Sister Sylvia. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Envoy Roy Bladen of the Yorkton Salvation Army officiating. Musical Selections, "My Best Friend" and "Sissy's Song" were included in the service. Janella Moldowan shared a poem tribute and Krystal Ryczak conveyed the eulogy. Honourary Pallbearers were Krystal Ryczak, Miranda Ryczak and Janella Moldowan. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Matthew at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Travis Moldowan, James Moldowan, Blake Young, Jonathan Petit, Tylor Moldowan, Joseph Moldowan and Jordan Copeman serving as the casket bearers. Memorial donations in Dorothy's name may be made to the Salvation Army or the Canadian Cancer Society.
