Obituary of Jean Shullman
SHULLMAN - Mrs. Jean Shullman of Yorkton, SK. formerly of Calder, SK., passed away at Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Sunday, August 15, 2010. She was 84 years of age. Jean was born on June 29, 1926 in the Calder district to Ted and Jennie Sandulak. Jean attended Torsk School and helped on the family farm. On July 29, 1944 Jean was united in marriage to John Shullman. They farmed near Shellmouth, MB. until 1966, when they moved to Calder, SK. Jean worked out babysitting and picking potatoes for several potato farmers in the area. Jean also helped in the community hall cooking for weddings and different occasions. She loved to bake and cook and had a large vegetable and flower garden. She liked dancing, and always attended all the dances in the surrounding area. Jean's past time was embroidering, quilting and playing cards with friends and neighbours in the evenings. In 1991 Jean moved to Yorkton and lived at Clements Court. She enjoyed baking and cooking and having family and friends over for dinner and tea, up until she got ill in February, 2010. Jean was predeceased by her husband John in 1987, brothers John, Nick and Ted Sandulak; sister Elizabeth Hicks; son-in-laws Robert Prokopetz, Alex Prokopetz and Laverne Stumph, brother-in-law Leon Mychan and Pete Shullman. Jean leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Rose Prokopetz of Thunder Bay, ON. Nellie Krauskopf of Edmonton, AB., Joyce Stumph of Yorkton, SK., sons Ed (Mary) Shullman of Shortdale MB., John (Colleen) Shullman of Yorkton, SK; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, brother Mervin (Alice) Sandulak of Courtney, BC. sisters, Lena Shullman of Swan River, MB. Ann Trofananko of Yorkton, SK. and Marie Mychan of London, ON. sister- in-law, Kay Sandulak of Courtney, BC., brother-in-law Morris Hicks of London, ON. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, August 19th at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Milo Spooner Craig of St. Andrew's United Church officiating.The organist, Amanda Buhler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "God Be With You". The interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Jamie Shullman, Darren Prokopetz, Darnell Prokopetz, Lucinda Prokopetz, Shelley Chase, Stacey Prokopetz and Michelle Goulden serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in Jean's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Telemiracle as gifts of remembrance.
