Obituary
Obituary of Matilda Krupp
Peacefully, on the morning of July 20th, 2010, in her 95th year, Auntie Matilda was called home to her Saviour and His Blessed Mother. Matilda was predeceased by her parents Anna (nee Lachowich) and Jacob Krupp, her sisters Nettie (John), Mary and Tatiana, and her brothers Bill (Mary), Walter (Ethel), John (Stella), Nick, Michael and Harry. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren. Matilda was born and raised on the family farm in Stornoway, Saskatchewan, and attended Angove School in that district. In 1943, she moved to Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario, and was employed by Canada Car, helping build airplanes for the war effort. After the war, she remained in Fort William for another 18 years, where she worked in the retail grocery business, and made many lifelong friends. Auntie then returned to Yorkton to care for her elderly mother. She also worked part- time in the local Saan store, the Co-op store, Woolworth's, and Perth's. Matilda moved to the Queen Elizabeth Court in 1981, and very much enjoyed her life in this retirement community. Matilda had a special talent as a seamstress. Her custom-made draperies decorated many homes in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. She loved music and dancing, and was an avid bowler and sports enthusiast. In recent years, she enjoyed playing shuffleboard, attending "hymn sing" in the lounge and the Sunday morning brunch outings with her friends. Auntie was a long-time member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, of the church choir and of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League. Her faith in God and her devotion to the Blessed Virgin were strong and unwavering throughout her life. Her family members often called upon the strength of her prayers during periods of ill health and other difficult times. Auntie was always a big part of the lives of her nieces and nephews, and of the lives of their children. Her visits were anticipated with great joy, and she was always such fun to be around. She never forgot an important family event, be it a birthday, a graduation or an anniversary. We will always remember her for her generosity, her sense of humour, and her love. Prayers were held on Sunday, July 25th, preceded by the praying of the Holy Rosary led by parishioners of St. Mary's. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, July 26th with Rev. Father Raymond Lukie, C.Ss.R. Both services held at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Yorkton. The responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita and Parish Choir Members. The crossbearer was Jeffrey Barnes and the epistle reader was Melanie Barnes. Reflections of Matilda's life were shared by Theresa Barnes. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with members of the Knights of Columbus, Father Delaere Council serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in Matilda's name may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund or The Salvation Army Yorkton Flood Relief. Condolences to the family can be forwarded to baileysfuneralhome@sasktel.net Vichnaya Pamyat! Eternal Memory! Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home. Service Information
