Obituary of Rose Bashutski

BASHUTSKI - Mrs. Rose Bashutski of Kelliher, beloved wife of Paul passed away May 14, 2010 at Regina General Hospital. She was 81 years of age. Rose Marie Bashutski was born in Ituna on December 16, 1928, daughter of Joseph Sikorski and Agatta Kobialka. Rose was the fifth child in the Sikorski family of five girls and five boys. Rose received her education at Olga School northwest of Ituna and Kelliher High School. In 1943, the Sikorski family moved to a farm a half mile south of Kelliher. As a young woman, Rose worked at Rabinovitch's General Store in Kelliher where she met Paul Bashutski. On October 16, 1949, Rose was united in marriage to Paul Bashutski. Paul and Rose farmed south of Kelliher in the Beresford District were they raised their three children. Paul and Rose retired from farming and have been living in Kelliher since 1978. Rose's life was dedicated to the farm, gardening, cooking and caring for her family. She took great pride in her garden and the feast she would prepare when family and friends came to visit. Rose was active in St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic Church and several community organizations. On a typical summer day you would find Rose working in her garden. Winter days were devoted to reading, sewing and visiting with friends. Rose leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her husband Paul of Kelliher; daughter Dianne (Clarke) of Regina; Dennis (Debra) of Kelliher; Barry (Cheryl) of Buena Vista; grandchildren Elena of Saskatoon, Devin of Regina, Jennifer and Warren of Regina, Brent of Calgary, Jill of Ann Arbor, and Kara of Winnipeg; and great grandson Aiden of Regina. Prayers were held on Wednesday, May 19th and Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, May 20th at St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kelliher with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The crossbearer was Kara Bashutski and the epistle reader was Brent Bashutski. The interment followed in St. Vladimir's Parish Cemetery with Jennifer Bashutski, Jill Bashutski, Brent Bashutski, Elena Storle, Warren Bashutski and Devin Storle serving as the casket bearers. Reflections of Rose's life were shared by granddaughters, Jennifer Bashutski, Jill Bashutski, Elena Storle.
