Obituary of Walter Stock

Mr. Walter James Frank Stock of Yorkton and formerly of Estevan beloved husband of the late Florentine passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Monday , May 3, 2010 at the age of 90 years. Walter was born on April 28, 1920 at Bienfait Saskatchewan; a son of Ernest and Sarah Ellen (nee Molyneux) Stock. Walter was raised in Estevan and received his education there. Walter began his working career as a steam locomotive engineer during the forties and fifties in Bienfait and Estevan. During this time he met and married Florentine Minnie Dukart on September 25, 1940. The couple continued to reside in the Estevan district where Walter was employed as a stationery engineer for Steelman Gas of Steelman, Saskatchewan . This he did from 1956 until 1962 when he and Florentine moved to Yorkton. Walter was employed as a Stationery engineer here from 1962 until he retired in 1985 from the Yorkton radar base. His beloved wife Florentine died in 1978. Walter continued to reside in Yorkton eventually making his home at the Aspen Bluffs Villa. Walter was a very personable man passing on his infectious smile to all he met. He was an honorary lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. Elks, president of the Fish and Wildlife Association and a member of Deer Park Golf Course for many years. Walter was predeceased by his parents; his wife Florentine; a son Ernest; a daughter Darlene and her husband Bob Kondro; two brothers: Dave and Bert and a sister Clementine. Walter leaves to cherish his memory his family, Dennis ( Caroline) Stock and their children: Barb and Jeff, Jim (Gail) Stock and their family Dylan and Jill, Delores (Len) Falkowsky and their children Robin and Tenealle. A daughter - in - law Berva ( Ernest) Stock and their family Darcy, Melissa and Janice, Darlene and Bob Kondro's family Rick and Sandi along with 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday afternoon, May 8, 2010 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Ken Buchan of the Anglican Church of Canada officiaiting. The Music Selections were: "You Raise Me Up" (Josh Groban), "Morning Has Broken" (Cat Stevens) and "Amazing Grace" (Forrester Sisters). The Reflections and Remembrances of Walter's life were given by his sons: Jim and Dennis with daughter - in - law Caroline reading the poem: "A Ship Sails By". The interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with: Max and Wayne McInnes, Len and Ron Falkowsky, Rick Kondro and Norman Lutcher serving as Casket Bearers. In memory of Walter memorial donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Heart and Stroke Fund as gifts of remembrance.
