Obituary of John Hryniuk
HRYNIUK - On the afternoon of April 28, 2010, John Hryniuk of Preeceville entered eternal rest at the Regina General Hospital with his family at his side. John was born in the Preeceville Hospital to Bill and Polly (Romanchuk) Hryniuk. John was raised on the family farm and attended the Endeavor school. Upon completion of his education, John went into farming with his parents. On the weekends, he enjoyed going to barn dances and on one occasion, he met a special someone that he really liked. He eventually married Vicki (Elaschuk) and together they went into farming. They grew grain and raised purebred Hereford and Charolias cattle. Also, together John and Vicki raised two children. John was a member of the United Grain Growers and the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. He was also a long standing member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. When John was not working he engaged in various activities like hunting, trapping, fishing, baseball, hockey, snowmobiling and playing pool. He also had musical interests and played the guitar and harmonica. In 1980, John sold the family farm and went to work in the bush (logging). In 1983, John purchased a house in Preeceville and continued to work. John enjoyed all the social activities of a small community - he enjoyed his neighbors and many friends. He also took pride in growing a large garden every year and then sharing the abundance with others. He continued to do this for many years until his health started to fail. John was pre-deceased by his parents, Uncle Joe and Nick, Aunt Tina, cousin's Paul and Tony and his son Cam. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life - his wife Vicki and daughter Sharon, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and his many other relatives and friends. Prayers were held on Tuesday, May 4th and the funeral service on Wednesday, May 5th , at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky of Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church officiating. The responses were led by William Kozey and parish choir members. The crossbearer was Curtis Holowachuk. The interment took place in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Arlon Dyky, Alvin Romanchuk, Willie Jakabowski, Bradley Romanchuk, John Bodnaryk and Dwight Greba serving as the casket bearers.
