Obituary of Ken Richard Allan
The family of Kenneth Allan of Dubuc, SK, sadly announce his passing on Thursday, February, 10, 2022.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 19, at 1:00p.m., from Dubuc Hall with Pastor Nancy Brunt officiating.
The interment will be held in the Cotham Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Kenneth may be made to the Cotham Church as gifts of remembrance.
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and dear friend, Ken Allan at the age of 81 years.
Survived by his dear lady friend Ellen Moir who held his hand until the end, his brother Richard Allan, Douglas Allan, his sister Jean Allan and step sister Lily Hagen.
Survived also by numerous nieces and nephews who have all endured his nature walks and teachings. Ken was a teacher until the end.
Ken was born in Calgary. He is predeceased by his mother Ethel Allan (nee McIntosh), his father Richard Allan, step-mother Vina Allan as well as half sister Donna Legacy.
Ken graduated from high school in Whitewood in 1959, then joined a survey crew which he thoroughly enjoyed. He began university in 1962working summers as a surveyor.
When university was completed Ken joined the Canadian University Students Overseas (CUSO) in 1971. He worked teaching at a secondary school in Jos Nigeria for 2 years. He then traveled to Japan, Kenya, Pakistan, India, Thailand & Hong Kong.
After being home a few months he returned working with CUSO for 3 ½ years at an Adult Agricultural College in Nigeria. On his way home he visited England.
In 1981 Ken came back and worked a few years at an Agricultual College in Regina.
Ken then came back to the Dubuc area and purchased his farm from Roy Bingham.
Ken enjoyed attending the singles dances especially when Len Gadica was playing. This dance community meant a lot to Ken and his many friends there. He was always a regular at the local coffee rows in Dubuc and Stockholm which provided him with social conversations.
