Obituary of Katie Yaroski

Mrs. Katie Yaroski's loving heart stopped beating at the Santa Maria Senior Citizen's Home on Saturday March 27, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Katie was born on December 22, 1922 in the Ukraine a daughter of Steven and Rose (nee Voychuk) Hlynka. After Katie arrived in Canada she eventually met and married Mike Yaroski in August 1950 at ST. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church Yorkton. They made their home in the Calder district and farmed all of their lives until their son Glenn took over farming operations. After Mike passed away in 1996; Katie continued to live at Calder until ill health forced her to move to Regina and the Santa Maria Senior Citizen's Home in May 2006. During her life Katie loved to cook and bake and tended to a large garden. She loved flowers especially Petunias. She also loved the farm and never complained about all the hard work she had to do and, she never stopped working until it was all done and persevered even in the tough times. Her family meant a lot to Katie and always showed her love and devotion to them. As well, she was a compassionate lady to all including animals. She leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life her children: Glenn (Louise); grandchildren: Howard Tripp, Naomi Chase, Kiah and Cayden Wendorff, Adeline (Keith) Clay; grandchildren: Laura and Darren; Dolores (Michael) Laskowski; grandchildren: Jason, Jonathan and Andrea. Katie also leaves her relatives in the Ukraine. Katie was predeceased by her loving husband Mike in 1996; parents Steven and Rose Hlynka along with her relatives in Ukraine. A Prayer Service was held on Monday evening March 29, 2010 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The reflections of Katie's life were given by her son Glenn. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Tuesday morning March 30, 2010 from ST. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church Calder, SK with Reverend Father Peter Pidskalny C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. Walter Balabuk along with members of the Parish sung the responses to the Liturgy. Walter Bugoy was the Cross Bearer with Arthur Martinuk serving as Sacristan. The interment took place at the ST. Mary's Parish Cemetery with Jason, Jonathan, Michael Laskowski, Bill Yaroski, Darren and Keith Clay serving as Casket Bearers. Dear Precious Mother.
