Obituary of Yuet Ming Shum
A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". Grandma was born on April 9, 1914 in Canton Taishan Guondong, China. She grew up in the villages of Shui How Woo and Chung Hing. In 1932 she married Lee Dong Bok. After their marriage they immigrated to the United States. They lived in New York where they raised their four children, one girl, Lillian and three boys, Chet and twins, Yuen Hung and Yuen Chung. Lee died in 1963. In 1967 Grandma came to Canada to live in Bredenbury. She helped Lillian and Ming in the restaurant business. First she began working in the kitchen but soon was out in the dining room helping customers. She also soon learned to take cash at the till and never once made a mistake. Grandma always loved people. She enjoyed visiting and greeting everyone and customers loved visiting and joking with Grandma. Through her little English and many hand gestures she communicated with everyone. Family was the most important part of Grandma's life. After 95 wonderful years she leaves a proud legacy and good fortune in her family. Grandma had four children, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Grandma's family is very thankful and happy for her long life and the good fortune she has brought to everyone. We are thankful for many friends and relatives that travelled to be with us for Grandmas funeral. We are thankful for the flowers, donations and many good wishes for Grandma. We all wish Grandma a good journey to Heaven. On behalf of everyone in the family we wish health and happiness for everyone. Service Information
