Obituary of Peter Alec Pryslak

It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Peter Alec (Mervin) Pryslak at the age of 72. Peter, or Mervin as he was known to all, was born in the rural area of Calder, Saskatchewan. As a young man, he attended Torsk School, completing Grade 8. At a very early age, after completing school, he started farming with his dad. On August 22, 1964 he was united in Marriage to his sweetheart Judy Wincheruk. This marriage was blessed with two loving children, Deb and Glen. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the Calder community until present. Peter was very involved in the Calder community, the Yorkdale School Division for 18 years, the R.M. of Calder for 16 years, the Hospital Board in Yorkton, the Library Board and secretary for the United Grain Growers. Peter enjoyed curling, going to conventions, which took him across the country from St. John's, Newfoundland to Vancouver, British Columbia. He loved attending the Folklorama in Winnipeg with his family. One thing dad loved to do is take Judy by the hand on a summer afternoon and go Saskatoon picking. One of the highlights of his life that he enjoyed with much passion was a journey he took to the Ukraine in 2002 meeting his family for the first time. It was in the Ukraine that Peter had seen where his parents were born and where his heritage came from. On this trip he had also discovered many new friends. Upon his arrival home, his family had discovered a Peter that whomever he came across, he easily formed strong connections which made him a more sensitive person. In these past years, Peter and Judy enjoyed attending the Yorkton Cardinal Ball games. Last but not least, come spring time, auction fever hit our dad. Judy was left alone many times during this fever. Dad was always looking for a good deal and a friend to talk to. He was predeceased by his father Alec and mother Mary, sisters Margaret, Irene, Betty, Pauline and Anne, as well as father-in-law Bill and mother-in-law Louise Wincheruk. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judy; daughter Deb of Yorkton; and son Glen of Kelowna. He is also survived by his sisters Sylvia Hanson, Nettie Bates and Marion Nichol. Also many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Service Information Saturday, February 13th, 2010 2:00pm, St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church Interment Details Yorkton Memorial Gardens
