Obituary of Ken Schultz

SCHULTZ - Ken Schultz was born on January 7, 1940 at Hubbard, Saskatchewan; a son of Albert and Caroline (nee Ritthaler) Schultz. Ken was raised on the farm and attended school at Hubbard. As a young man, he became a grain buyer for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, where he traveled throughout Saskatchewan. In 1963, he was united in marriage to Barbara Keisig. Ken worked with the Wheat Pool until 1973, when he resigned his position and moved to the family farm at Hubbard to take over the operation. Ken had a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Wildlife habitat was very important to him as he was a true conservationist. He spent many enjoyable hours in the fall hunting up in the Quill Lakes district with his 'second' family, Jack and Marie Evans and their family. In 2005 Ken retired from active farming but remained on the home place. Ken was able to do the things he enjoyed most until this year. Following a short hospitalization, he passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. He was 69 years, 11 months and 27 days of age. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Caroline, he will be remembered by his son Ken (Kelly) Schultz of Melville, his granddaughter Amanda Schultz, and grandson Chad Schultz, also of Melville; daughter Darlene (Aaron) McDonald of Last Mountain Lake and their children Derek, Brittany and Tanner McDonald. Also, his only brother, Gordon (Beverly) Schultz of Regina. Ken will also be greatly missed by other close relatives and his many friends. The funeral service was held on Thursday, January 7, 2010 from St. Stanislaus RC Church in Ituna. Rev. Lynda Wowk of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Melville officiated. Organist, Paulette van der Helm led the congregation in the singing of the hymns Just As I Am, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, and Nearer My God to Thee. The lay-readers were Elaine Mitchell and Helen Beer. Terry Korchinski gave the eulogy. The interment took place in the Hubbard Cemetery with Al Wuschenny, Chad Schultz, Clayton Campbell, Jason Evans, Lawrence Korchinski and Leonard Tschetter serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home. Service Information Thursday, January 7th, 2010 10:00am, St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church Interment Details
