Obituary of Darcy Lees

It is with great sadness that the family of Darcy Jeffery Lees announces his sudden passing on December 16, 2009, at the age of 43 years. Darcy was born on January 6, 1966, in Yorkton, SK. He attended school in Willowbrook and Yorkton. In 1984 he purchased his first parcel of land from his uncle, which continued to grow. In March of 1986, he met his wife Jacquie, and they were married on October 8, 1988. His heart burst with joy and excitement when he learned he would be a father. His two precious children, Abby, born February of 2001, and Colby, born January, 2002, were the sparkle of his eyes. Darcy's passion in life was farming and his family. Darcy took over the family farm when his parents moved into Yorkton. His love for the land was unmistakeable. His excitement grew every spring and fall, at seeding and harvest. He couldn't wait to get on the tractor in the spring, opening up the ground for new plants to emerge, filling the bins in the fall with the rewards of his hard work, or in the winter at calving time, seeing a new baby with its mother was also a great joy. His one belief was that hard work paid off. His other passion was his children, he would put everything on hold for them, he would stop seeding to attend a school functions because it meant the world to them to have him there. He enjoyed taking his son to hockey, seeing Colby strive to do his best was all he asked for. He believed that school was the most important thing his children could do. Darcy spent many evenings doing homework and reading to his children, spending hours with Abby, giving her math figures to do. Darcy enjoyed spending time with his many friends. Going to auction sales and farm shows. He played rec hockey with the Jedburgh Jets for many years, going to games every week. He especially loved the tournaments and their ping-pong tournaments after the games. Predeceased by his grandparents, and his brother Dean, he leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Jacquie, his two precious children, Abby & Colby, of Willowbrook. His parents Fred & Pauline (nee Hrynuik) Lees, and brother Terry, all of Yorkton.
