Obituary of Metro Boychuk

BOYCHUK - Mr. Metro Boychuk, of the Hamton district, beloved husband of Evelyn Boychuk entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 18th, 2009 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 76 years of age. Metro was born on September 7, 1933 in the Hamton district of Saskatchewan; a son of Mike and Nellie (nee Wowk) Boychuk. He started his education at Mennofeldt School with the completion at Olesko School due to a relocation of the family homestead. Following a winter of employment in B.C. at a plywood mill he returned to the family farm. Metro was united in marriage to Evelyn Bodnaryk on September 28, 1957. Metro and Evelyn moved to the present farm and were blessed with three children. Metro continued farming until the spring of 2009 after 52 years of working and caring for the land that became a part of his heart and soul. During his life Metro enjoyed family and friends, hunting, music, billiards, playing ball, cards, travel and watching a variety of sports. Metro was an active member at Boychuk Church as well as St. Mark's Church since inception. He particularly enjoyed watching his family members participate in all types of sports and functions. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, wife Evelyn; daughter Linda (Dale) Heshka; sons Gary (Paulette) Boychuk and Kelly (Maryse) Boychuk; grandchildren Kris (Brandy)and great-grandson Ethan, Shaun (Laura), Lynsey (Ben) , Rachel, Garret, Kristen and Lindsay. His sisters: Vicky Wlasichuk of Edmonton, AB, Emily (Bob) Dutchak of Canora , SK, Sally (Alec) Rusnak of Bonnyville, AB; brother Lawrence (Shirley) Boychuk of Emerald Park, SK; brother-in-law Mike Klewchuk of Virden, MB; sisters-in-law Yvonne Boychuk of Winnipeg, MB; Verna Boychuk of Yorkton, SK; and numerous nieces & nephews. Prayer Service was held on Wednesday, October 21st and the funeral service on Thursday, October 22nd at St. Mark's Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Rod Luciuk and Rev. Father Andrew Piasta officiating. Reflections of Metro's life were conveyed by son, Gary. The crossbearer was Lawrence Boychuk and the banner bearers were Ian Bodnaryk and John Bodnaryk. The interment took place in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Kelly Boychuk, Shaun Heshka, Colin Bodnaryk, Ed Oystreck, Jerry Klimchuk and Bruce Boychuk serving as the casket bearers.
