Obituary of Jane Adam

ADAM - Mrs. Jane Adam, beloved wife of Mervin Adam of the Hamton district passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, October 7th at the age of 60 years. Evelyn "Jane" Adam was born on December 7, 1948 at Yorkton to Sam and Katie (Wowk) Zaharia. She received her education at Stawchen School. Following her education Jane commenced working in Yorkton, first as a waitress in a restaurant followed by employment at Co-op and Safeway. On November 13, 1971 Jane was united in marriage to Mervin Adam at Yorkton. The couple initially made their home in Yorkton, then briefly in the Gorlitz district before establishing their home and raising their family on the Zaharia farm in the Hamton district. Besides homemaking and helping with the farm operation, Jane provided Homecare services in her home to many disabled clients. This gift of caring spanned over 28 years. Jane loved her garden and flowers. She had the ability to produce enormous vegetables. She will also be remembered as a great hostess - no one left her home hungry. Jane was very active at St. Mary's - Boychuk Church where she served as secretary for approximately 20 years. She was predeceased by her father Sam; sister Alice Tkachuk; brother Don; sister-in-law Helen Zaharia; brother-in-law Keith Shorter and father-in-law William Adam. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Mervin; her son Merv (Julie) of Yorkton; daughter Lorelee of Yorkton; granddaughters Michaela & Madison Adam and their mother Cheryl of Yorkton; mother Katie Zaharia of Yorkton; sisters Dianna Shorter of Yorkton and Carol (Peter) Brown of Summerland, BC; brother Mike Zaharia (Thelma) of Clearwater, BC; brother-in-law George Tkachuk of Yorkton; mother-in-law Pauline Adam of Gorlitz; sisters-in-law Angie (Allan) Hemauer of Langenburg and Ivy (Barry) Bilokrely of Sheho; brother-in-law Blaine (Tracey) Adam of Gorlitz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers were on Monday, October 12th, and the Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 13th at St. Mark's Orthodox Church, Yorkton with Rev. Father Rod Luciuk officiating. Responses were led by Rodney Flunder and Ted & Verlee Ungurain. The Cross Bearer was Nelson Boychuk and the banner bearers were Jason Bilokrely and Nick Zaharia. The interment took place at Yorkton City Cemetery with Peter Brown, Les Reimer, Barry Bilokrely, Blaine Adam, Kelly Shorter and Allan Tkachuk serving as the casket bearers.
