Obituary of Rose Kitzul

KITZUL - Mrs. Rose Kitzul, longtime Ituna resident, passed away following a brief hospitalization on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre. She was 89 years of age. Rose was born in Jasmin, Saskatchewan on November 8, 1919 to Anton and Anna (nee Stadnitsky) Antonishyn. She married John F. Kitzul on October 26, 1940. They farmed north of Ituna until their retirement in 1978, when they moved to their new home in Ituna. Rose enjoyed gardening, baking and playing cards. She especially loved playing cards and baking with her grandchildren. Rose was predeceased by her parents, sisters Julia Wistoski and Eva Boczulak, and by a brother Frank. She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory, sons: Ernest (Eleanor) of Regina and their children Karen (Regina) and Trevor (Montreal, PQ); Jerry (Val) of Ituna and their children Kevin (Petawawa, ON), and Dena (Sheldon) Lee of Esterhazy; Larry (Maureen) of Regina and their children Jason, Ryan and Amanda, all of Regina; and Glen (Rosanne) of Regina and their children Kyle (Regina) and Kristen (Airdrie, AB); Great grandchildren: Julianne and Benjamin LeMay-Kitzul of Montreal, Brittany and Ron Lee of Esterhazy, and Joshua Kitzul of Petawawa. Rose is also survived by sisters: Katie (Stanley) Faye, Emily (Joe) Shuya, and Jenny Horvath; and by a brother Joe (Ann) Antonishyn; numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. Prayers were held on Sunday evening, October 4, 2009 and the funeral service was held on Monday morning, October 5, 2009 all from the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ituna. Very Rev. Archpriest Peter Wasylenko officiated. Sacristans were Peter Kwasnitza for prayers and Bill Bereziuk for the funeral. Cantor William Kozey, assisted by Ivan Pawliuk and members of the Parish Choir, led in the singing of the responses. The crossbearer was Ron Lee, the bannerbearers were Karen Kitzul and Dena Lee. The interment took place in the Parish Cemetery with Trevor, Kevin, Jason, Kyle and Ryan Kitzul and Sheldon Lee serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
