Obituary of Fred Klem

KLEM - Mr. Fred Klem of Calder, beloved husband of Pat Klem passed away unexepctedly on September 26, 2009 at the Regina General Hospital. He was 72 years of age. Fred was born in the Calder district on August 24, 1937. He was the son of John and Victoria (Rurak) Klem. Most of Fred's lifetime was spent with heavy equipment on road construction mostly as a foreman. His work history included RM of Calder, Matheson Brothers, Magnus Construction, Morsky Construction, Hueser Construction, Wappell Contruction and Western Dragline. He also worked for Yacnowich and at the Esterhazy Mine. On July 22, 1960 Fred was united in marriage to Pat Marteniuk. This marriage was blessed with one son, Barry born on July 28, 1964. Fred's pastimes included hunting and fishing. Predeceased by his parents John & Victoria in 1986 and his father-in- law Peter Marteniuk in 1999, he leaves to mourn his passing his wife Pat, son Barry and mother-in-law Elsie Marteniuk, all of Calder; aunts Anne Mostoway of Calder, Doris Bratko of Vancouver, Elizabeth Poulson of Carson, California, Anne Yasinsky of Roblin; uncle Matt Rurak of Vancouver and numerous cousins. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 30th at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Faye L. Greer of Westview United Church officiating. The organist Amanda, Buhler led in the singing of the hymns, Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art". The interment took place in the Garden of St. John at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Rodney Flunder, Bernie Kozmeniuk, Calvin Halirewich, Ted Charboneau, Mike Klym and Allan Molnar serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Fred maybe made to The Yorkton Regional Health Centre or Westview United Church as gifts of remembrance.
