KORB - Susan Korb widow of the late Alex Korb of Roblin, formerly of the Calder district passed away on Sunday, September 20th at the Crocus Court Personal Care Home in Roblin. She was 95 years of age. Susanna was born on February 19, 1914 at Runnymede, Saskatchewan; the youngest child of Philip and Mary (nee Rose) Pfeifer. As a child and young lady she enjoyed riding horses and playing the organ at church and dancing. She met Alex and they were married on July 12, 1934. The couple were blessed with seven children; 4 boys and 3 girls. Susan and Alex moved a lot but they came back to Calder from Selkirk, Manitoba. Susan and Alex were married 67½ years. Alex passed away on April 11, 2002. In her later years, Susan enjoyed playing bingo and cards with family and friends. She was very sociable and enjoyed making new friends. She liked watching baseball & hockey and knew a lot of the players' names. Susan was a member of Calder United Church and also the Calder Senior's Club. She was an awesome cook and her children couldn't wait until dinner or any other meal. She intrigued her family how she made a meal when she was just milking cows and washing the separator. Susan lived in the Roblin Residents before she moved into the Nursing Home in Roblin. She was very active and got around great with her walker. She made a lot of friends in the Nursing Home with residents as well as staff. She had a good sense of humour and wit. She was treated very well by the staff at the nursing home. Susan passed away on Sunday, September 20th at Crocus Court Personal Care Home. She was 95 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents; her daughter Elaine Salyn; grandchild Chris Salyn; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; son-in-law Ed Zabowski and daughter-in-law Ann Zorn. Susan leaves to mourn her passing; her children Stanley Korb of Thunder Bay, ON, Wilma Zabowski of Kelowna, BC, Raymond (Barb) of Winnipeg, MB, Roland (Annette Diduck) of Calder, Almina (Louis) Cailloux of Ottawa and Dave (Henrietta) of Calder; a son-in-law Ray Salyn of Winnipeg; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She will be missed by all. A service of comfort was held on Wednesday evening, September 23, 2009 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Faye Greer of Westview United Church officiating. The organist, Amanda Buhler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'How Great Thou Art', 'Just As I Am' and 'When The Role Is Called Up Yonder'. Amanda Buhler sang a solo 'The Old Rugged Cross'. Grandson Damon Harrington served as a crossbearer. Honourary Bearers were Elmer & Connie Pfeifer, Rose Gerega, Austin & Mabel Krantz, Doris Germain and all of her many friends and Nursing Home Staff. Interment followed in the family plot in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Travis Krantz, Devan Petruk, David Korb Jr., Adam Korb, Ryan Korb and Kevin Korb serving as the casketbearers. Memorials in memory of Susan may be made to the Crocus Court Personal Care Home or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation as gifts of remembrance.
