Obituary of Tom Fleming

FLEMIN G - Thomas Fleming beloved husband of Marion Fleming of Invermay, formerly of the Leross district passed away on Sunday, September 20th 2009 at the Canora Union Hospital. Thomas Joseph Fleming was born on March 5, 1925 on the family farm in the Dysart district of Saskatchewan. In 1931 he moved with his parents and siblings to the Leross district. On October 30th, 1950 he was united in marriage to Marion Braun. The couple raised their family of three children and operated a family farm in the Leross district until 1999. During his 50 years of farming in the Leross district, Tom was very active in the community of Leross, serving on many different boards and committees. Tom's door was always open for anyone who needed him to help. Whether it was for help with their machinery or farming or just to talk and visit. Tom passed away on Sunday, September 20th 2009 at the Canora Union Hospital. Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Tom leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Marion of Invermay; daughter Evelyn (Allan) Englund of Regina, daughter Darlene Fleming of Saskatoon, and son Kenneth (Darlene) Fleming of Theodore; seven grandchildren Lee, Laura, Adam, Lindsay, Morgan, Jaylene and Shalon; twelve great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, September 25, 2009 from the Leross Community Hall facilitated by Raymond Bailey. Special musical selections were a Piped Hymn 'The Battle Is O'er', 'Go Rest High On That Mountain' by Vince Gill, 'I Will Remember You' by Sarah McLaughlin and 'Sweet By and By' by the Forester Sisters. Tributes and words of remembrance were given by Tom's granddaughters, Jaylene Brass and Shalon Fleming and by Tom's neighbors and friends, Dwight & Lil Sabaston. Interment took place in the Lestock Cemetery with grandson, Adam Ritthaler serving as the urnbearer. A reception followed at the Leross Community Hall. Memorials in memory of Tom may be made to the Invermay health Centre or for Palliative Care at the Canora Health Centre as gifts of remembrance.
