Obituary of Dwayne Shewchuk

SHEWCHUK - Dwayne Peter Shewchuk, beloved son, brother and husband was born October 4, 1962 at the Yorkton Union Hospital. Dwayne was the second born son of Peter Eli and Victoria (nee Kulaway) Shewchuk of the MacNutt district. As a youngster, Dwayne was full of life and on the go constantly. This trait was Dwayne till the day he suddenly and unexpectantly left us on August 31, 2009. Dwayne attended MacNutt grade school and graduated from the Yorkton Regional High School in 1982. Dwayne received his Interprovincial Machinist distinction from SIAST in 1985. Welding was Dwayne's second trade that he incorporated with his farming duties. Dwayne worked as a machinist at Swift Current and Estevan and continually drove home to the family farm at MacNutt to help his parents with all farm duties involved in their mixed grain and livestock operation. Dwayne worked at the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company in Flin Flon, Manitoba as a machinist for the next eleven years. In Flin Flon, Dwayne met the love of his life, Tracy Smith. Dwayne and Tracy moved to south of Edmonton, where he continued to work as a machinist. The couple returned to Manitoba and later back home to the Wroxton district. Dwayne never turned down a new work challenge as he was a perfectionist and a dedicated, hard working employee at Parkland Welding and Machine in Yorkton. Dwayne's happiest day in his life was July 5, 2003 where he married Tracy Smith at the family cabin at Bakers Narrows, Manitoba. The couple purchased an acreage east of Yorkton. Dwayne enjoyed life to the fullest, he and Tracy experience all it had to offer. His love of nature, animals and everything that he grew was important to him. He enjoyed outdoor activities which included a large garden, manicuring the yard, boating, fishing, horseback riding and winter sledding. Dwayne was an excellent host, entertaining family and friends that usually ended up in a game of cards. Dwayne was predeceased by his grandparents Eli and Katherine Shewchuk; Mike and Polly Kulaway; an infant brother Martin; mother Vicky in January 1998 and father Peter in July of 2001. Dwayne leaves to grieve his sudden passing and to cherish his life his loving wife Tracy of Yorkton; sisters, Carol Ostlie of Hendon, SK, Alvina Schick of Sylvan Lake, AB, and Lorie Shewchuk (Mark Hampson) of Yorkton; a brother, Lionel Shewchuk of Alix, AB; nephews Adam & Brad Schick of Edmonton; mother-in-law, Alene Smith of Bakers Narrows, MB; brother-in-law Randy Smith (Sandra & children Jordan and Randi-Rae) of Flin Flon; sister-in-law Shelly Craig (Craig) of Flin Flon; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Faye Greer of Westview United Church officiating. The eulogy was given by Dwayne's brother Lionel, with asistance from nephews Adam & Brad Schick, who also served as urnbearers, and by Shelly Craig. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Luke. Cremation and funeral arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
