Obituary of Minnie Dubnyk
DUBNYK - The death of Minnie Dubnyk [nee Werezak] of Yorkton occurred on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home at the age of 90. She is survived by her sister Rose Jarman, brother Bill, both of Saskatoon and many nieces and nephews of the Dubnyk and Werezak families. Minnie was born to George and Mary [Budzak] Werezak at Hafford, Saskatchewan on November 24, 1918. Her formative years were spent on her parents homestead along with her 4 sisters and 6 brothers. After completing high school at Hafford, she attended Saskatoon Normal School in 1940. While teaching at the Two Creek school in the Wroxton District, she met the love of her life, William Dubnyk. Shortly after their marriage on October 30, 1943 Minnie became a full time farm wife. She was extremely fond of their farmstead, its natural setting and the frequent visits of wild life. She took much pride in their fruit and vegetable garden and enjoyed the fishing trips with William. But above all, she was most pleased to be Auntie Minnie to so many, particularly to the families of the late Albert [Violet] Dubnyk, Walter [Doreen] Popowich and Mervin [Edna] Dubnyk. Even though they had a home in Yorkton, they remained true to their rural roots until William's sudden passing on November 26, 2001. In 2006, Minnie took up residence at the Eagle Stone Lodge in Kamsack and later transferred to the Yorkton Nursing Home. Minnie was predeceased by her beloved husband William, her parents, 3 sisters; Dorothy Korpan, Clara Bohayski and Anne Kulack, 5 brothers; Michael, Alfred, Nick, John and Dick. The family would like to thank all the caregivers for their attentive care and compassion while Minnie was resident in Kamsack and Yorkton. Minnie & William were very much involved with the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Yorkton. She will be missed by all. The funeral service was held on Monday, August 31st at the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home with Mr. Eugene Mellish of the Yorkton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. The interment took place at Yorkton City Cemetery Walter Popowich, Myron Tatarniuk, Jeffrey Molina, Gordon Bonn, Wes Zorian and Horatio Gnyp serving as the casket bearers. Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home. Service Information
