Obituary of David Kerelchuk

KERELCHUK - Mr. David Kerelchuk of the Theodore district, beloved husband of Pat Kerelchuk passed away June 26, 2009 with his family at his side at Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 57 years of age. David Donald Kerelchuk was born on August 17, 1951 to John and Nettie (Pawliw). Dave grew up on the family farm seven miles southwest of Buchanan where he learned the value of hard work at an early age. He attended Mamornitz School until 1964 when the family moved one mile east of Theodore. Dave attended Theodore School from Grade 8 to 12. He graduated in 1970, as he would say, "with great distinction". In 1972 he attended SIAST receiving a diploma in Industrial Instrumentation. He gained employment with the Department of Highways and was also able to help his dad on the family farm. On July 21, 1979 he was united in marriage with Pat Lazeski. They resided in Foam Lake until May 1982 when they decided to take over the family farm. Their marriage was blessed with three beautiful children: Tracy, Michael and Tara. His children were his pride. In 1994 Dave took his family to Disneyland and from that a love of travelling evolved. Dave and Pat were fortunate to take many trips down south to Cuba, Mexico, Nashville and Las Vegas. Dave loved "good" music. Ukrainian and country classics were his favourites. He was a self taught musician and loved to entertain any audience willing to listen to his fiddle or guitar and his toe tapping left foot. On Friday June 26th, 2009 David lost his brave battle with cancer. Dave will always be remembered for his sociable ways and unique ability to make people laugh. David was predeceased by his father John in 2007 and his son Michael in 2008. He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his wife Pat and their daughters Tracy (Brian) Mack and Tara (Steve Forseille); his mother Nettie, his brother Martin (Pat) Kerelchuk of Brandon and their children: Keri (Paul), Colin and Kim, his twin sister Delores (Ron) Shordee of Fort Qu'appelle and their children Janice (Bray), Ryan (Dakota), Darren and Lisa; his mother-in-law Angeline Lazeski; his brother-in law Glen (Dianne) and their children Megan (Roley), Nicole and Brandon; His sister-in law Karen (Mark) Woitas and their children Jeffrey and Stephanie; and his sister-in- law Leann (Todd) Willen and their children Christopher and Tori. Prayers were held on Monday, June 29th and the funeral service on Tuesday, June 30th Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Andrew Piasta of St. Mark's Orthodox Church officiating.
