GRAVES - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful and loving wife, mother and granny, Jessie Graves. Born August 22, 1928 Jessie grew up in Springside, SK, the youngest of seven children born to William and Jessie Benjamin. On October 1st, 1949, Jessie married Alan Robert Graves. They lovingly welcomed their first child, Faye Jessie on August 6, 1952. In 1957, son Garry Grant was born, but passed away shortly after his birth. On February 26, 1962, Jessie and Alan were blessed with twin boys, Glenn Sidney and Gregory Alan. Jessie and Alan lived in Yorkton until 1995, at which time they moved to Regina to be closer to family. Jessie devoted her life to her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Jessie passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. She was 80 years of age. Jessie was pre-deceased by her son Garry Grant, sister Margaret (William Cumming), brother William (Jean), sister Florence (Earl Christianson), brothers Robert (Helen) and Jim (Marion). She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Alan, daughter Faye (Randy Peppler) of Regina, son Glenn (Judy nee Bot) of Calgary, son Greg (Pam nee Just) of Saskatoon, grandchildren Lisa (Travis Muhr), Jessica, Ryan, Brendan, Lindsay, Joel and great grand-daughter Elizabeth (Lisa), sister Edna (Graves) of Yorkton, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation took place at Bailey's Yorkton Memorial Gardens Crematorium. The funeral service was held on Friday, June 26, 2009 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Doug Craig of St. Andrew's United Church officiating. Tributes to Jessie were given by Lisa Muhr and Jessica Peppler, lay-readers were Lindsay & Joel Graves, and Ryan and Brendan Graves. The organist, Amanda Buhler, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns Those Hearts We Have Treasured, and Amazing Grace. A solo taped selection of Josh Groban 'You Raise Me Up' was also played. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Matthew with all six grandchildren as the urnbearers.
