UNGAR - Judy Ungar beloved wife of Garry Ungar of the Theodore district passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of sixty years. Judith Lorraine Ungar was born on June 13th, 1949 in the Theodore Union Hospital. She was the eighth of thirteen children born to Michael and Anne (nee Pacholko) Roebuck. Judy was raised on the family farm a half-mile east of Theodore. Early in life Judy learned the value of hard work, driving tractor, harrowing, haying, picking stones and milking cows for her dad, and helping tend a garden big enough for a dozen with her mom. With so many kids in the family, Judy's childhood was a blur of birthdays, weddings, Easter and Christmas gatherings. Judy met the love of her life, Garry Ungar, very early in life, both attending Theodore School. They were married in Theodore on November 23, 1968 in the Theodore Town Hall. Garry was stunned by her pretty looks and caring ways. Judy and Garry lived in Regina, Edmonton, Calgary and Balgonie before finally settling on the farm 3 ½ miles west of Theodore in 1975. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Scott, Jason, Erin and Brennan. Judy worked as a teller in the T.D. Bank in Edmonton and Calgary before becoming a full time mom on the farm. Judy was the Vice President of G. Ungar Construction Co. Ltd. and it's Chief Financial Officer; but always remained the hub of the family. Judy was known for her wry wit and sharp tongue and as a gourmet chef; whipping up the lightest pancakes and biscuits, succulent seafood dinners and mouth watering Saskatoon, apple and peach pies. She was proud to be a confirmation sponsor for her nephew, Christian Hansen. Judy's faith and love for her husband was heightened when she nearly lost him in a tragic automobile accident in 2002. She loved spending time with Garry: fishing, travelling and going to church, and was rarely seen at home without a good book. Judy will always be remembered for her unconditional love. She would defend her family to a fault. Her family was always the focus of everything she did and their happiness was the most important thing to her. Judy battled cancer valiantly for eleven years and we are all in awe of her faith, strength and resiliency.
