Obituary of William Kuzek

William "Bill" Kuzek beloved husband of Mary of Theodore, SK.; entered eternal rest on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 90 years. Bill was born on June 4, 1918; the eldest child of Sam and Marie (nee Lopaschuk) Kuzek of the Insinger district. He was called to the Army in February of 1941; served in the Infantry for four years in British Columbia, Canada and was discharged in 1945. Bill Married Mary Kitzan at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Drobot in 1948. They celebrated their 60th. Wedding anniversary on June 12, 2008. They were blessed with three sons: Raymond, Randy and Dennis. The couple farmed in the Theodore district until 1978 when they moved to the town of Theodore. Bill was an active member of St. John The Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Riverside; serving as: president, trustee and palamar for many years. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 34 and a member of the Senior Citizens group. He leaves to celebrate his life his wife Mary of 60 years; son Raymond (Karen) Kuzek of Theodore and their children Lawrence (Anita ) Kuzek of Lloydminster, Kevin (Trina) Kuzek of Atwater, Chelsie (Jamie) Schneider of Yorkton; son Randy (Iris) Kuzek of Lloydminster and their children: Rosemarie Kuzek and special friend Adam Falk, Rebecca Kuzek and Jonathan Kuzek all of Lloydminster; son Dennis (Valerie ) Kuzek of Theodore and their children: Clorice Kuzek and special friend Curtis Roussin of Theodore, Jennifer (Jeff) Ahler of Calgary, Carla Kuzek and special friend Matt Milleker of Regina, , Derek Kuzek of Calgary, Eric Kuzek of Theodore; along with seven great grandchildren: Brett, Brendan, Karysma, Trinity, Jazzlyn, Jayden and Samantha; sisters: Dora Lukiniuk of Canora, Elsie Rodgers of Vancouver; brothers: George (Sophie) Kuzek of Canora, Steve (Vera) Kuzek of Crooked Lake; sister - in - law Pat Kuzek of Canora and many nephews and nieces. Bill was predeceased by his parents Sam and Marie Kuzek; brothers: Nick, John, Metro and Peter and sisters: Katie Kuzek, Eva Johnston and Rose Kautzman. A Prayer service was held on Thursday evening, February 26, 2009 from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church Yorkton, SK. The Funeral service was held on Friday morning, February 27, 2009 from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Very Reverend Father Mel Slashinsky Officiating. Henry Wayslyshen and Nick Heshka were Palamars. The Cantor was Gerald Yaholnitsky and was accompained by members of the Parish Choir. Bernie Surkan and Billy Maximiuk were the Banner Bearers with Norm Gawryliuk serving as Cross Bearer. The Legion Burial Rite was Conducted by members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 34 Theodore and General Alexander Ross Branch # 77 Yorkton. Very Reverend Mel Slashinsky officiated with Seargent - at - Arms Peter Wyatt; Bugler and Act Of Remembrance given by John Miller with Andy Juba, George Arnold, Bill McCreary and Russel Bischop serving as Colour Guard. Following the Memorial Luncheon with tributes given by Randy Kuzek and Karen Kuzek the interment took place at St. John The Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery Riverside with Lawrence, Derek, Kevin, Eric, Jonathan Kuzek and Curtis Roussin serving as Casket Bearers.
