Donna and the Milbrandt family. We sadly learned of Glenn's passing a week ago and I have been running through memories of a time more than 50 years ago when I first met Glenn on the ball diamonds of eastern Saskatchewan. I began teaching at old Victoria School in the fall of 1967 and joined the Yorkton Canadians the following spring. In our lives we meet many people. We develop relationships, some are very brief, and some last for the rest of our lives. I think back to the late 1960s, to Vic Danylko, the Derbowkas, Vic and Ed, D'Arcy Loster, Merv Froehlic, and Al Harper, who was the best man at our wedding, just some of the guys we played with. The sports' days, Jubilee Park, road trips to Bowsman, Manitoba, Madge Lake, etc. Though we were competitive and were eager to win, it was done in a sportsman- like manner. I only remember Glenn as a kind and reasonable person, someone who was a friend for life. I just regret not having made more of an effort to keep up a line of communication, especially in the years we lived near Yorkton. We have been here in Saskatoon already more than 12 years. We were sorry to read of his struggle with cancer and the health issues he experienced. How is it that some are given such burdens to carry? I suppose we will all need to deal with some issue in regards to our health going forwards. The loss of a dear loved one is never easy.
