Obituary of John Kitzul
KITZUL - Mr. John Kitzul, beloved husband of Rose of Ituna, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville following a brief hospitalization. He was 91 years of age.John was born in Theodore, SK on February 26, 1917 to parents Fred & Mary (Yaschuk) Kitzul. At a young age they moved to a farm in the Walkerville district and later to a farm in the south of Jasmin. He married Rose Antonishyn on October 26, 1940 therefore celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary this past month. John and Rose farmed north of Ituna until their retirement in 1978 when the moved to their new home in Ituna. John was the secretary treasurer for Walkerville School for many years. He also served as a councilor for the RM of Ituna Bon Accord for 2 terms. In his younger years he was an avid fisherman and spent many summers with his son's and family and friends at the lake. John was predeceased by his parents and sister Sophie Temoshawsky of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is survived by his loving wife Rose; son's: Ernest (Eleanor) of Regina and their children Karen (Regina) and Trevor (Montreal, PQ); Jerry (Val) of Ituna and their children Kevin (Barrie, ON and Dena/Sheldon Lee (Esterhazy); Larry (Maureen) of Regina and their children Jason, Ryan and Amanda all of Regina; Glen (Rosanne) of Regina and their children Kyle (Regina) and Kristen (Airdrie, AB). Also 5 great grandchildren Julianne and Benjamin LeMay-Kitzul of Montreal, PQ; Brittany and Ron Lee of Esterhazy, and Joshua Kitzul of Barrie, ON. John is also survived by one sister Anne Malarchuk (Ed) of Winnipeg, MB. The prayer service was held on Monday evneing, November 3, 2008 from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ituna. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from Holy Ghost Church with Very Rev. Archpriest Peter Wasylenko as the celebrant. Cantor, William Kozey, assisted by members of the parish choir led in the singing of the responses. The crossbearer was Ron Lee, the bannerbearers were Karen Kitzul and Dena Lee. The interment took place in the Parish Cemetery with Trevor, Jason, Ryan and Kyle Kitzul, Sheldon Lee and Ed Rushinko serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home. Service Information
