MICHAILISHIN - Olga Michailishin widow of Peter Michailishin of Lanigan passed away on Saturday October 18, 2008 at Regina General Hospital. She was 83 years of age. Olga (nee Leciuk) Michailishin was born August 20, 1925 at Ituna, Saskatchewan, a daughter of Katherine (nee Kowalyk) and Nick Leciuk. Olga attended File Hills School. On April 23, 1951 she obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant diploma from the Province of Ontario. Olga met the love of her life Peter an immigrant from the Ukraine, they were united in marriage on July 12, 1951 at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ituna. Olga & Peter lived and worked many years in Thunder Bay, Ontario. They were very active in the church, volunteer and political organizations. Olga took a hair dressing course, cake decorating and an oil painting class, as well she was very involved in catering for their church. In 1997 they moved from Thunder Bay to Lanigan, Sk. Where they purchased a home for their final retirement years. Olga had lived a good, active life until just the past couple of months when her health started to fail. At the end of September she moved to the nursing home at Strasbourg. Olga passed away on Saturday October 18, 2008 at Regina General Hospital. She was 83 years of age. Olga was predeceased by her husband Peter, her parents Nick & Katherine Leciuk, her sisters and their husbands: Lena and Fred Shewchuk, Sophie & Jake Unger and her Brother Bill Leciuk. Olga will be fondly remembered and missed by her sisters: Beatrice (Bill) Schur and Anne (Omar) Sather, her nephews & nieces: Gunnar(Liz) Ivans, Arvid (Barb) Ivans, Janet Schur, James (Eileen) Schur, Chantel (Tom) Derbyshire, Rhonda (Randy) Sather, Glenna (Jim) Curry, Leanne (Tim) Fell; and great nieces and nephews: Sonia, Kristie (Kyle), Jackie, Steven, McKayla, Braden, Alexis, Haley and Austin and numerous God children. Prayer Services were held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 7:00 pm from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ituna. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 10:00 am from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Very Rev. Archpriest Peter Wasylenko officiating. The responses were sung by William Kozey with members of Holy Ghost Parish. Great niece, Alexis Schur served as the crossbearer and great niece and nephew, McKayla and Braden Curry served as banner bearers. Interment followed in the parish cemetery with Omar Sather, James Schur, Tom Derbyshire, Gunner Ivans, Jim Curry and Randy Murray serving as casketbearers. Vichnaya Pamyat! - Eternal Memory! Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home, Ituna - Yorkton.
