The following words and sentiment are from my mother, Olga Stepa who is the oldest of the Mudry children. "Verna was the best sister I could have. I always looked forward to our phone calls but especially to the visits when Verna came to the farm and later to Brandon where I am now living. It wasn't easy getting away from the farm even for a few days in those early years but I certainly appreciated the visits. When we got together we always enjoyed each other's company, supporting each other in times of change when our husbands both passed away much too soon, when we both left the farm and moved into the city and when old age brought new challenges. I've always felt that Verna and I have kindred souls. I miss her terribly. I love you Verna." Olga.

We would like to send our deepest condolences to the entire family. My earliest recollection of Auntie Verna is going to visit her and Uncle Mike on the farm. I always thought the house and the farm were great. A two story house whereas ours was only a one story! I remember the kitchen in particular as Auntie Verna was making creamed chicken with dumplings. Oh, so good. And of course we had to have a traditional shot of vodka from Uncle Mike. I hope I was older when I had that. But there were many visits to the farm and when she came to visit us on our farm in Manitoba. And then when Mom moved to Brandon, we visited with Auntie Verna there. Although a little woman she was a giant - full of love and energy. And even when her knees gave her trouble, she still had a smile or a chuckle in spite of the discomfort. I have many fond memories of Auntie Verna. Take care and stay safe. Veronica and John Sanche
