Obituary of Edna Rose St. Pierre

PIERRE - Edna Rose St. Pierre, the daughter of Gerry and Alice (nee Boucher) Pelletier was born on March 1, 1941 in St. Madeline, Manitoba. She attended Foulliard School and helped on the farm. Later she was employed at the Red & White Store in MacNutt, SK. She met Edwin St. Pierre while working as a nanny for the Avalon family. The couple were married on September 7, 1963. They later moved to Regina where they raised their daughter and three sons. Edna worked for many years at the Medical Arts Building in Regina as well as for the Regina City Police. In retirement Edna and Edwin returned to Yorkton. Edna was a member of Crescent Lake Metis Heritage and Culture Society and Women's Native group in Regina. Her favourite pastimes were bingo, casino, playing cards with family & friends, going for drives with the family, sewing, gardening (flowers) and collecting angels. Edna passed away on Tuesday July 22, 2008 at Yorkton. She was 67 years of age. Predeceased by her parents, Alice and Gerry Pelletier, her son, Darren; two sisters, Alice and Mardel; brothers, Frances, James and Robert; father-in-law Alex St. Pierre; sisters-in-law Laura Spracker and Stella Wapemoose. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Edwin of Yorkton, her four children, Darrell of CFB Borden, ON Rene (Shawn) Bulch of Cold Lake, AB, Dale and Gerard of Yorkton, SK.; two grandchildren, Alex Bulch and Autumn Smiley; one sister, Victoria Vitkauskus; mother-in-law Mary St. Pierre and brothers-in-law Gerald, Martin, and Lawrence St. Pierra. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A wake was held on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from the Yorkton Friendship Centre. Rev. Father Basil Chomos conducted a Vigil Service. Randy Fleury with members of St. Gerard's Parish Choir led in the singing of the hymns 'Immaculate Mary' and 'Peace is Flowing Like A River'. Randy sang a solo, 'Why Me Lord'. Edna's children shared words of remembrance. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2008 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Basil Chomos as the Celebrant. Musicians, Katherine Flaman and Randy Fleury with members of St. Gerard's Parish Choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Here I Am Lord', Psalm 23, 'How Great Thou Art', 'On Eagles Wings', 'Song of the Angels and 'Praise the Lord with the Sound of Trumpet'. The cross bearer was Milton Lafontaine. Patsy Bigstone and Verna Peepeetch gave the readings. Honourary Bearers were Gerald St. Pierre, Lucy Lafontaine, John Lafontaine, Martin St. Pierre, Victoria Vitkauskus, Nola St. Pierre, Lawrence St. Pierre, Martha Lafontaine and Laura Coates. Interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Shawn Bulch, Vaughn Lafontaine, Pernell St. Pierre, Terry Peepeetch, Harold St. Pierre and Rob Lafontaine serving as the casket bearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home, Yorkton. Service Information
