After attending school he worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the Canadian Army and served in Europe from 1941 - 1945. Upon his returning home Alex was united in marriage to Gladys Marion Aveyard in August 1952. They were blessed with a son Matthew and a daughter Priscilla. He then looked down upon this earth And saw his tired face. He put His arms around him And lifted him to rest. God's garden must be beautiful For He only takes the best. He knew that he was suffering He knew he was in pain. He knew that he would never get well Upon this earth again. He saw the road was rough And the hills hard to climb. So He closed his weary eyelids And whispered, "Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose him But he did not go alone. For part of us went with Alex The day God called him home. Service Information
