Peter attended school at St. Stanislaus until grade nine. He worked at the Crayton mine in Sudbury until he returned home to farm. He would go to work for several farmers in the Balcarres area. In 1942 Peter married Eva Hnylycia and they farmed on the family farm until 1949. Peter then moved his family to Hubbard where he established Hubbard Farm Equipment. Peter ran a successful business selling Cockshutt, New Holland, Morris Equipment and GM dealership. He worked very diligently as farmers would need equipment fixed during peak times of seeding or harvest. Peter enjoyed curling, watching or going to a Blue Jay baseball game. He enjoyed Cardinal baseball in his later years. He served on the Ituna Hospital Board 1969-72, on Hubbard Town Council 1956-81. Peter was also active in the Knights of Columbus 1962-81. Peter loved company, good times and especially loved to sing. He had a great sense of humour. As a father he was always concerned about his children. You never left after a visit unless he filled your car with gas or fixed that tire, etc. Peter and Eva sold their business in 1981 and moved to Yorkton to enjoy their new home until Eva passed away. Peter moved into an apartment where he lived alone for 4 years. He would enjoy his daily walks to the mall to have coffee with friends. Peter moved to the Bentley where he enjoyed being around people, not having to cook or eat alone. Peter enjoyed having his friends over to play cards or go out with his family and friends. His eyes would just light up when his grandchildren or great grandchildren would come over for a visit. Peter's health began to deteriorate in December, 2007. He had to leave the Bentley and move to Foam Lake Jubilee Care Home. He still managed to sing and joke and loved to play cards. He then looked down upon this earth And saw his tired face. He put His arms around him And lifted him to rest. God's garden must be beautiful For He only takes the best. He knew that he was suffering He knew he was in pain. He knew that he would never get well Upon this earth again. He saw the road was rough And the hills hard to climb. So He closed his weary eyelids And whispered, "Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose him But he did not go alone. For part of us went with him The day God called him home. Service Information
